Out of touch, out of love. // Drabble

The two were curled up on the couch, the countertenor’s head settled on the other Warbler’s chest. They were watching some sort of film for history, though they both really just wanted to watch it for Leonardo DiCaprio. Not much could be heard other than the gruff voices coming from the television set, and the occasional pointing out of inaccuracies in the movie.

Somewhere in between the scenes, Sebastian started humming a song under his breath, weaving his hand in Kurt’s hair. The latter sighed contentedly at the touch. Kurt looked up to green eyes, a little bit of puzzlement found in his pursed lips. Sebastian raised his eyebrows, adjusting to help the other sit up properly, movie now forgotten.

“What are we, Sebastian?” he asked, breaking the still silence that even the dialogue in the screen couldn’t feel. Sebastian opened his mouth, but then closed it, thinking again. What were they? They weren’t boyfriends, nor were they just friends. He closed his eyes and leaned on the backrest of the sofa.

“Does it really matter?” he asked, and Kurt shot him a look that said ‘yes, it does matter’. “Well, I don’t,” he replied, a twinge of defiance in his voice. “Who cares if we’re boyfriends or not?” Well, he actually did, but it was inappropriate for him to ask Kurt to be his boyfriend then and there. It was too… plain. For a Smythe, especially. Ideas of going to Paris and New York filled his head, but he tucked these in the back of his head when Kurt suddenly yawned and settled his head on his lap.

With a small smile, Sebastian turned off the TV, and played an instrumental jazz CD in replacement of the old historical movie. Really, he wasn’t that used to being so chaste at night, not even receiving a good night kiss. He looked down to the cherubic face of a sleeping Kurt Hummel, then decided it was worth it.

They were going to be worth it.
